The red bordered will be sold during the Jamboree at RM7. The yellow bordered badge however will be sold only to members of the contingent. I'll be at the Jamboree so if you want these badges, come visit our camp.

Malaysian CSP

The CSP (Council Shoulder Patch) is popular among the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) as a collecting item. Each Scout Council have their own uniquely design CSP and they can come in various issues and colors. With many Councils spread across more than 50 States in America, it makes CSP collecting even more challenging and fun!

The CSP has perhaps inspires me the most to collect. I have in my collection about 500 CSPs but as time goes by, I realised I can't collect all of them. Furthermore not being in America (and never been to America), it is just very difficult. So I narrowed down my collection to a few namely only regular issues, NCAC (National Capital Area Council) issues and Direct Service issues.

But anyways, the reason for my posting this time is to let you know that in Malaysia, the Scoutleaders also wear a CSP shape badge on their left shoulder, just like the CSP. The difference is the Malaysian CSP depicts the leader's position eg. Scoutmaster, District Commissioner etc. If you want one, to add into your CSP collection as a unique and foreign CSP, do let me know.

Okay, what about trading Scout badges?

I know. The initial idea of this blog is to create a forum where we can trade badges. I know I have not offer any badges yet. So for this posting, I'll try to offer what I have. I may not be able to post pictures of all the badges I have so if you are in search of any particular badges or want to know more about what I have to offer, please do email me at tariqaripen@gmail.com .

To get the ball rolling, I'd like to show you a picture of some of my collections that I've put up for exhibition during the recent 1st Inanam District Scout Camboree. I know it's small but enough to attract attention. I'm more into Scout uniforms and scarfs from around the world now because I think that will attract the local scouts more and it is easier to talk to them about Scouting around the world.

But that's not all I collect. I do collect the following:

  • Jamboree badges (World and National)
  • Uniform badges (Includes membership, flag , name strip, district and regional, class, positions, merit/proficiency badges)
  • Highest Award badges
  • BSA's CSPs (Particular interest in current active ones, Direct Services and National Capital Area Council series)
  • Old Malaysian Scout badges
  • Ofcourse National scarfs and Uniforms

What I can offer you are:

  • Malaysian uniform scout badges
  • Malaysian Scout jamboree and event badges
  • Some foreign National and World Jamboree/event badges (I have WJ1987, WJ1999, WJ2003 etc. You'll have to ask me personally if you are interested)
  • Some highest Award badges (Also ask me)
  • Some CSPs (Including some of the NCAC monument series. Ask me)
  • Membership badges from various countries (I have Brunei, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam etc. Ask me)

  • Interested? Let me know!

    Cheers!

    Hi all!

I know it has been so long since I last wrote something in my blog. Not that nothing is happening, it is just that...... I'm too busy? Ok, I know it's a lame excuse. So today I thought I could just write in something about our just concluded Inanam District Scout 1st Camboree which was held from 3 - 7 June 2006 at S.K. Pengiran Siti Hafsah, Karambunai, Kota Kinabalu. About 175 Cub Scouts and Scouts participants and Service Team mainly from Inanam District and also Kota Kinabalu and Sembulan district attended the camp which was officiated by the Karambunai Assembly Member cum Sabah Assistant Minister for Industrial Development, Yang Berhormat Hajah Jainab DSP Ahmad Ayid. The troops include 02 Inanam S.M.K. Bandaraya, 03 S.K. Inanam Laut, 09 S.M.A. Inanam, 11 Inanam S.M.K. Inanam, 21 Inanam S.K. Gudon, 25 Inanam S.M.K. Kolombong, 16 KK S.M.K Perempuan Likas, 1st Sembulan S.M. La Salle and S.M. Sanzac.

Some of the activities held are like kayaking, obstacle run, nike hike, flying fox, Indaba, Scout night and one activity which I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Environmental Action Committee (EAC) Sabah particularly Mr. Low and Mr. Honny Ukung is the Environmental Community Project held at the school. With the help of EAC's annual World Environment Day (WED) grant, we were able to held the project successfully on World Environment Day which is on 5 June 2006. Two main activities were held; tree plantation around the school field and teaching the scouts how to make compost out of food waste. So there you are, our districts first ever Camboree (No wonder I was too busy to write!)

Trying up blogging approach for badge trading

Dear Scout badge collectors and friends,

Some of you might heard that my yahoo account was suddenly deactivated for no apparent reason (still waiting for a response from yahoo) which includes my website. I think most of you know that building a website from scratch is not easy. But I need to do some trading. A good friend of mine from Singapore (Thanks Kelvin) gave me the idea of creating a blog instead. So here I am now taking his idea. See how it goes. What matters is I can still get in touch with fellow traders and friends and slowly keep up with the phase. And ofcourse slowly putting up pictures of badges I have for trade and badges I need.

    Keep in touch.

    Yours in World Scout Brotherhood,
    Tariq
